Feedback

We received lots of good feedback from our pitch. Below I have uploaded scans of the advice which we thought was most useful and relevant.
We did notice that a high percentage of our audience thought the idea wasn't original and too cliche. We have taken this on board and we are going to try and make our idea more original and creative.

Pitch Notes

When doing the Pitch i had a copy of the powerpoint with some extra notes on them. These are only for the theories we researched. This is shown below. I did this because I didn't want to much writing as people would get bored of reading.

Pitch Powerpoint

Below i have included our power point presentation we made for our pitch!
I uploaded the powerpoint to slideshare which allows me to embed into my blog. Sadly the link for the song no longer works but i will include the song later on in my blog.

Creative Week

This week has been creative week. We began to be creative in ways that we wouldn't usually do.
To start with Megan and I made a mood board of words that popped into our head when listening to the song by our artist. This was then backed up with drawings done by myself.

After the mood board we both moved onto separate things.
I began to create a 3D boom box as I believe this plays an important part into the stereotypical view of rap.
Megan began to create fonts and ideas towards our pitch as this was an important thing needed to plan.

Below our pictures of our creations.

Boom Box

Being part of creative week allowed us to get used to techniques of planning that we wouldn't usually do. I thought it was very helpful in not only improving our creativeness and planning skills but our team work. We began to help each other out more and think of how to be creative.
When we begin planning our main video we will try and do more creative and unusual ways to improve our understanding. I will do more drawing rather than lists as they help me to picture the idea as well as using dance or actions to get our idea across.

Sir Ken Robinson

Sir Ken Robinson is an author who spoke about creativity in schools.
He said 'if you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never be able to come up with anything original.'

Personally I think this quote he said is true. In schools your usually penalised for being wrong so how can you become creative?
I learnt a lot from this video. It taught me that being wrong isn't a bad thing if you learn from it. This will help when planning as hopefully doing wrong will give us room for improvement and new ideas, something everyone can use.
"All children are born artists. The problem is to remain an artist as we grow up" which is to say kids do not grow into creativity, but grow out of it, or rather educated out of it.- Another quote from Ken Robinson's video. As media Students we have to remember to be creative and try and portray this through our video.

Here is the video we watched about creativity.

Kayne West- All of the lights

Screen showing Kayne west- All of the lights. Please click on the link to see the video as VEVO won't allow me to embed to post.

1) How do the visuals respond to the music?
beginning- Very sad. creates the idea that somebody is leaving home.
Chorus comes in. matches the colouring exactly.
matching lyrics to emphasis the importance.

2) To what extent does it follow a narrative?
Not really a narrative, repetitive shots. use of imagery to mirror the lyrics.

3) What kind of image is the star presenting?
Stereotypical rapper.
The fact that he likes to party and have a good time generated by the flashing of the lights.

4) How are the cinematography, mise en scene, editing used in the video- are there any significant features worthy of comment and why are they used?
B&W at beginning to create a more emotional feeling.
Use of colour throughout matches the lyrics.
Even when on a serious footage lights still flash to make the imagery less important.
jump cuts to match the pase of the video.
Use of different kind of lights- street, strobe, sirens etc in order to match 'all of the lights'
even when just singer there is lights in order to keep up the idea of all of the lights being the most important.
editing- over lapping (supercompostion) of imagery to create a more confusing and crazy video creating the idea that the singer is fast paced and creates the genre of rap easier.

5) Is the video literal, disjunctive or amplifying?- give reasons throughout
I think its literal because the imagery is always matching the lyrics throughout the use of colour. At the start however the video was very disjunctive
