Kayne West- All of the lights

Screen showing Kayne west- All of the lights. Please click on the link to see the video as VEVO won't allow me to embed to post.

1) How do the visuals respond to the music?
beginning- Very sad. creates the idea that somebody is leaving home.
Chorus comes in. matches the colouring exactly.
matching lyrics to emphasis the importance.

2) To what extent does it follow a narrative?
Not really a narrative, repetitive shots. use of imagery to mirror the lyrics.

3) What kind of image is the star presenting?
Stereotypical rapper.
The fact that he likes to party and have a good time generated by the flashing of the lights.

4) How are the cinematography, mise en scene, editing used in the video- are there any significant features worthy of comment and why are they used?
B&W at beginning to create a more emotional feeling.
Use of colour throughout matches the lyrics.
Even when on a serious footage lights still flash to make the imagery less important.
jump cuts to match the pase of the video.
Use of different kind of lights- street, strobe, sirens etc in order to match 'all of the lights'
even when just singer there is lights in order to keep up the idea of all of the lights being the most important.
editing- over lapping (supercompostion) of imagery to create a more confusing and crazy video creating the idea that the singer is fast paced and creates the genre of rap easier.

5) Is the video literal, disjunctive or amplifying?- give reasons throughout
I think its literal because the imagery is always matching the lyrics throughout the use of colour. At the start however the video was very disjunctive
